Erich lived the postwar part of his parents’ momentous World War II era journeys but emerged from it with just a child’s level of awareness. Only after his own war in Vietnam was Erich compelled to better understand his parents’ experiences in their greater war. Erich’s lengthy pursuit eventually resulted in The Secret She Carried, his mothers’ traumatic story, and now his father’s in the companion volume, By Accident of Geography. Erich lives with his wife in Seattle.
