Erich, after spending his first five years in Germany, became an Iowa farm boy who eventually left tractors behind to earn a PhD in immunology. Not long after moving to the Pacific Northwest, he hung up his white lab coat to pursue other interests. Today time not spent with his family is divvied among seeing the world, hiking the American West, playing bocce, and writing.
